- Circular and Oval Pools: Measure the diameter through the center for circular pools. For oval pools, measure both the length and width through the center.

Understanding Pool Volume Calculations
Our calculator uses proven mathematical formulas to determine your pool's volume based on its shape. Here's how volume is calculated for different pool shapes:
- Rectangular/Square Pools: Volume = Length × Width × Average Depth
- Circular Pools: Volume = π × Radius² × Depth (where Radius = Diameter ÷ 2)
- Oval Pools: Volume = π × (Length ÷ 2) × (Width ÷ 2) × Depth
- Kidney-Shaped Pools: Volume = (A + B) × C × 0.45 × Depth (where A and B are the measurements across the kidney at its widest points, and C is the length)
- For Pools with Varying Depth: Average Depth = (Shallow End Depth + Deep End Depth) ÷ 2
For US measurements, final values are multiplied by 7.5 (gallons per cubic foot) to convert to gallons. For metric, volume is expressed directly in liters.
